Friday Wine Down!

Happy Friday!

What a long week it has been, but I'm happy to say that it is the weekend!

December is 1/3 over (what!) and we're racing towards Christmas at breakneck speed! This is the perfect weekend to finish up your shopping, have friends over for a holiday cocktail, and bust out your ugly sweater to go caroling in!

Or you can stay home, put your feet up and read a good book by the fire... whatever floats your boat!

This weekend will be filled with birthday fun, Christmas cheer, and hopefully a workout or two for me! But before we get into THAT let's Wine Down this week!

Fun with Friends on Fridays!

On Friday, I went out with my two besties for a fun night of pizza, wine and bowling!

The three of us tend to be crazy busy, so nights out are often scheduled well in advance, and frantic in nature! We try to cram in as much as we possibly can to a single evening.

Plus, we love pizza and wine... and have ALWAYS loved bowling!

It was so nice to get together and get all caught up on the secret life and times of my dear friends. I don't know what I would ever do without them.

Wedding (dress) Bliss!

Last weekend my brother's fiancé booked her Kleinfeld appointment in downtown Toronto (yes, we have a Kleinfeld too!) and asked her mother, aunt, sister, future sister in law, my mother, my sister and I (also her future sisters in law) along to help her pick out her wedding dress!

Dana is just about my favourite member of my family (and she's not even technically in it yet) and it was so wonderful to watch her try on gown after gown!

And of course, she said Yes to the Dress! Champagne! Tears! Success!

No pictures of the gown until the big day (January 2018) but here is a photo of the happy Bride and her family after our appointment!

Sick Days

Unfortunately, with all the weekend excitement I ended up coming down with a cold.

Monday I took the day off sick, to stay home and watch TV, drink NyQuil and sleep.

I want to say something to anyone who is reading that I have learned through years of experience. In an age where most of us can work from home when we're feeling under the weather... I encourage you to not.

YES we want so badly not to let anyone down, we don't want to be seen to be slacking... but if you take that ONE day to sleep and rest and not do any work, you will heal so much faster than if you don't. Plus you're not adding value when you have a cold anyway.

Take your sick day. SLEEP! It's amazing how much more quickly you will be back to feeling normal if you do.

Christmas Parties!

This week I have not one BUT TWO Christmas parties!

Thursday night, my OLD job was hosting a Christmas party and invited me back to see everyone (I did only leave 5 weeks ago) and tonight my NEW job has their Christmas party!

It was so great to see all my old coworkers after a month to catch up (and hear about all my favourite clients), but I'm really looking forward to cutting loose with my new coworkers who I still don't know that well yet.

'Tis the season to get a little tipsy and make some friends! And speaking of which...

What I'm Drinking

While I'll probably be playing it safe tonight with white wine spritzers or vodka sodas (clear liquids, not too much alcohol, swap out for water every 2nd drink and no one can tell) I think that's kind of cheating for a Holiday Wine Down!

So instead... I would like to offer up THIS little beauty for you to try and whip up this weekend! Click on the picture to be taken directly to the pin!

Your Turn!

How was your week? Do you have any exciting weekend plans? Are you already into Holiday Party mode?

Most importantly: Do you have a holiday themed cocktail for me to try? Let me know!
