Friday Wine-Down

Happy Friday!

As I write this post, I'm suffering through a sushi coma. So if something reads as though it may have been written by a Drunk Sloth... I'm sorry.... Also how cute would that be? Silly sloth!

A busy week for me again this week (this has been the theme of all June-July months of my life) but an excellent one all the same. And this upcoming weekend is the weekend I've been looking forward to MOST all summer, so I'm in a pretty great mood!

With that in mind, let's do the wine down!

Engagement Party Success!

I don't want to get into this too much, as I will be doing a full blog post about this tomorrow, but the Engagement Party for my cousin this week was a complete success. The weather cooperated, the food was delicious, my flower displays were on point and the whole family had a wonderful time!

Here's some sneak-snaps before tomorrow's post!

Arts and Crafts Time!

Apparently I've been feeling pretty creative the past week! I got not one, BUT TWO craft projects done on Monday night!

The first were these adorable cheese signs which I blogged about on Wednesday.

The second is this new hanging board for my costume jewelry, which will be featured on the blog next week! But here's a quick peek!

I Dislike the new Archie Comic Look

I used to read Archie comics ALL the time as a kid. Even now when I'm heading up to the cottage for the weekend, I'll buy some. I love that 20 years later, they still reuse some of the same stories, and that Archie is trapped in the 50s with malt shops, a band featuring a tambourine, his "old jalopy" and more...

I get making Archie modern, introducing cellphones and up to date slang. But why did they have to make him look like.. well this?

They haven't shown new Veronica yet (she won't even appear in the first issue) but you can see new Betty and new Jughead at this link here:

Bun in the Oven!

Look how adorably pregnant my friend Steph is!!!

I'm getting really excited to meet the new little one, who will be here in just 2 months! Steph and Eric have picked her name, but I won't tell you what it is just yet... but it's beautiful and I can't wait to say it all the time!

Family Cottage Weekend!

Like I said, I've really been looking forward to this weekend! My WHOLE family on my Mom's side will be up north in Cottage Country. All the cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents. We're going to have a ball!

Between tubing, swimming, beer pong, reading Archie comics (old ones!), camp fires and s'mores, it's going to be absolutely phenomenal.

The weather is looking clear and sunny, and the beer is looking cold. What more could we ask for?

What I'm Drinking

While this weekend is going to be mostly beer drinking, I'll also be indulging in my favourite summer cocktail this weekend: The Sou-Coo and Loo!

This was a drink introduced to me by my Australian friends while I was living in Scotland. It's a "Southern Comfort and Lemonade" but they always called it a "Sou-Coo and Loo" with their fabulous accents.

When you're making this in the UK, asking for lemonade at the bar is essentially asking for a sprite or a seven up. So when I make this at home, I use REAL lemonade, with a touch of club soda for the fizz

  • 1oz Southern Comfort
  • 2oz Lemonade
  • 1oz club soda

Serve with ice and a sprig of mint!

What are your plans for the weekend? What is your summer cocktail of choice? How do you feel about Archie and his new look?

Have a good weekend everyone!
