Friday Wine Down!

Happy Friday!!!!!

It has been a loooooooooooooong time since I last did a wine down; I think it's because the monotony of winter gives way to the same post every week...

"It was cold... we stayed in and ate curry... I am fighting off winter weight..."

But now that Spring is in the air (even though it's -10C/14F) I have been re energized! So let's Wine Down this week!

February Blogger Break

"Hey Laura... I noticed there are no February 2017 posts on your blog?"

Yep! Toward the end of January I got caught up in the winter blahs... the thought of extending the effort of writing, editing, managing the blog was overwhelming so I decided to take a week off.

Unfortunately, that momentum just CAUGHT and before I knew it it was mid February and I hadn't even thought about content in weeks. I started to have guilt pangs and almost got back to it around Valentine's day, but then I thought that maybe I should ride the momentum and take a solid break.

I have to say, it felt really good. Plus it allowed me to get more into the swing of things! I started a new job back in November but with the holidays close behind I still hadn't really adjusted to my new schedule. Now that I have that more streamlined I can get back to the things I love.

More cooking new recipes, more going to the gym (finally!) and of course, I am back to blogging! Sorry for the break.

Upcoming Trips

Some exciting events on the horizon! At the end of March, Kris and I will be flying down to Key West Florida with three of our friends for a week of fun in the sun.

Traditionally we stay in Naples with his family when we're visiting the state, so this will be a bit of a change. I've heard though that it's more of a youthful atmosphere and we're REALLY excited! I can't wait to hit the beach and relax for a week.

Then, just a few weeks later I'm off to NYC for a one night extravaganza! My friend Jen (who lives in England) will be in the city for the week, so her sister and I decided to fly down to spend about 36 hours together in one of the world's greatest cities.

Plus, Jen is getting married... so we're going to Kleinfeld's and then out for a fabulous dinner. I. Cannot. Wait!

Get ready for some serious instagram stories and posts following what I'm sure will be two fabulous trips!

International Women's Day

This week, Women got their day in the sun for international women's day!

There were so many great posts, articles, essays, videos posted. I thoroughly enjoyed absorbing as many wonderful stories as I could about women today, how far we've come, where inequality still lingers, and how we shape the world.

Hear us roar!

Spring Fever

I have a pretty serious case of spring fever right now (even though it is SO cold out!)

The weather has been up and down from -10 to +15C in Toronto in the past few weeks. Every chance I get I am getting outside, opening up my windows, cleaning, arranging flowers... trying to embrace warmer weather as MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am to put away my winter scarves and slip into flats each morning.

Sadly I think we have a few more weeks until the spring weather is REALLY here in Toronto, but I will keep holding out hope and buying myself flowers until I can start sleeping with the windows open again.

What I'm Drinking

Let's end this Wine Down with a recommendation for a Canadian Wine that I learned to LOVE over the holidays!!!

It's hard to get at other times of the year, but you can always order directly from the proprietor.

I introduce: Nova 7

Nova 7 is a white wine with SLIGHT bubbles. We're not talking full cork-popping fizz, but more of an afterthought... a freaking lovely afterthought! It's like someone pre made you a white wine spritzer, without watering down the drink.

The first time I tried this wine, I went out and bought 4 more bottles to keep at home.

This was the perfect wine to celebrate the holidays, but would be equally as nice sipped on a warm evening outside, or over dinner. I thoroughly recommend it!

That's it from me this week but I want to know:

  • How did you celebrate international women's day?
  • Are you coming down with spring fever?
  • Did you miss me!?
Let me know in the comments below!

Xxox, Laura
