Thai Crunchy Chicken Salad Wraps

I love thai sweet-chili sauce, it's one of my favourite flavours. So when it comes time to make fresh and delicious salad wraps, there is only one flavour of sauce I want to use.

One of the nice things about salad wraps is that you don't feel too over stuffed while you're eating them. They're also great to put out as an appetizer to share before a meal. Of course, I love it as a main course. Ideally served with fresh dumplings on the side!

This meal is sweet, savory, fresh and simple to put together. It's a mouthful to say and eat, but it is TASTY!

In the recipe below you'll see that I've made my own Thai sweet chili sauce, but if you'd rather skip that step and just buy a bottle from the store that works too! I understand that not everyone keeps fish sauce around their home like I do.

Whatever your method, I know you'll just gobble these up! so without further ado...

5 Shoes You Need For The Holiday Season!

Like many women, shoes are my weakness.

I love a beautiful scarf, have a penchant for Kate Spade bags, and have a fairly enviable jewelry collection.

But for all of that, shoes are my favourite, my go to accessory, the bane of my wallet (or my feet, depending on the heel).

Lamb & Butternut Squash Tagine

This year for my birthday, I was well and truly spoiled.

My parents bought me a beautiful cast iron tagine from Le Creuset.

Friday Wine Down!

Happy Friday!

What a long week it has been, but I'm happy to say that it is the weekend!

December is 1/3 over (what!) and we're racing towards Christmas at breakneck speed! This is the perfect weekend to finish up your shopping, have friends over for a holiday cocktail, and bust out your ugly sweater to go caroling in!

Or you can stay home, put your feet up and read a good book by the fire... whatever floats your boat!

This weekend will be filled with birthday fun, Christmas cheer, and hopefully a workout or two for me! But before we get into THAT let's Wine Down this week!

5 Tips For Staying Fit During The Holidays!

Trying to keep fit during the holidays is hard.

A never ending uphill battle against chocolate, candy, big carb filled meals, alcohol, and barely having enough time to get to the gym between all your planned festivities.

No one is shocked when come New Year's Eve, they’ve packed on 5 lbs of holiday weight.. Which of course makes pulling on your slinky party dress to ring in the New Year that much harder!

Let’s be real: I’m not giving up holiday treats. My last post was about my favourite Christmas Cookies! So what are we to do?

This holiday season, take control of your health and fitness! I've outlined 5 easy steps you can take to stay on top of your game through December and into the new year. You're going to OWN your New Year's Eve cocktail dress!

Holiday Cookie Baking!

One of my favourite things about the holiday season is all the great baking!

Something about Christmas is synonymous with great food, but ESPECIALLY great dessert!

This weekend, with Christmas music blaring, I decided to kick off the holiday baking season with three of my favourite holiday cookies.

There's plenty of great options to chose from: gingerbread, sugar cookies, peanut butter balls, Santa's whiskers; but I decided to go with three of my favourite cookies, chocolate crackles, chocolate walnut biscotti and ginger cookies!

Friday Wine Down

Happy Friday!

I’m writing a Wine Down! I’m writing a Wine Down!

For those keeping track, my last Friday Wine Down post was back at the beginning of August, which is crazy! The autumn was a little nuts between travelling, applying to and starting a new job, and writing my PMP.

November was so busy I only put out THREE blog posts. Seriously, I’ve been swamped.

Now that I’ve made it to the other side, I have a whole month of content ALREADY written and I can start my weekly updates again (which I’m very excited about). So rather than highlight things from the last week (though there will be some of that!) I want to fill you guys in on the last few months of exciting things around CW&T and in my life.

Get ready for all the excitement!

How To: Make your own Beer Advent Calendar

*** This post was originally published on Nov 29, 2014. I've given it a little reboot for 2016 since I still make one of these for Kris every year. Also last year he made me one with WINE. So think on that variation! ***

Sometimes the best surprises don't arrive on Christmas Morning. Sometimes they arrive in the daily gifts from your advent calendar in those anticipation filled weeks leading up to the holidays!

Well, just because you're an "adult", doesn't mean that you can't get in on all the fun you had when you were a kid.

Today I'll be showing you how to make your very own Beer Advent Calendar for the beer lover in your life (or yourself, no judgement!) to have a more adult themed countdown to Christmas Day.

This weekend, I got a chance to do something I have always wanted to do but have never been able to pull off.

Guys... I got to put my hair up in an intricate braided up-do.

Pre Made Meals - To Save You Time

I don't know about you, but when I am busy the LAST thing I want to deal with is food.

And I mean, I'm a total foodie, a food blogger... and I STILL don't want to cook when I've had a late day at work, or need to study, or I'm just crazy busy.

Whether you're studying for an exam, over programmed, working late, renovating or just busy with holiday plans, the idea of spending your precious evenings making food, eating and cleaning up the mess probably has you reaching for the phone to order pizza.

Of course, you also don't want to be ordering out every night, or before you know it you'll be packing on the pounds, and feeling kind of gross. Plus your money will vanish, FAST.

Instead of take out, why not set aside a few hours on the weekend and pre make some meals to store in your freezer.

Taking a few hours to pre make meals that you can eat over a week OR TWO can make all the difference. If done right you can have delicious home cooked meals with minimal effort so that you can focus on other things.

Today I want to give you tips and advice on how to pre make your meals to save you time!

Exploring Oxford

While the highlight of our most recent trip to the UK was certainly London, we had two other stops on our trip that were worth the visit!

Something Old, Something New - Experiencing London Again

As you may have gathered from my recent travel posts, London is one of my favourite cities.

I have so many things I love to do when I'm there, like visit the British Museum, or spend the morning at Borough Market.

I have restaurants I love to visit and sights I love to see; I couldn't wait to go on our most recent trip to show my favourite parts of London to Kris, who hadn't been since he was much much younger (and didn't love it)

But some of the best moments of our trip were spent experiencing new things for both of us, in this city I've always loved

Experiencing the old and the new together made the trip that much more special.

Happy Thursday!

I'm taking a quick detour from my recent UK travel posts today to talk about something I'm really excited about.

Don't worry, I have two more Travel Posts coming to you next week, but get excited because today I want to talk to you about something that has solved a serious problem of mine.

Guys, today I want to talk to you about clip on hair extensions

Exploring the British Museum

One of the best things about travelling is the opportunity to expand and enlighten your mind.

If you're not going to experience new things, learn new things, discover new things... then you may as well just be at home in your sweatpants watching Netflix.

With no disrespect to Netflix of course... because that is 100% what I plan on doing when I finish writing this post.

When you're visiting London, there are plenty of opportunities to learn and explore; but the crowning jewel is the British Museum.

How To Spend A Morning In London - Borough Market

London is one of my favourite travel destinations.

The sights, the sounds, the pulse of the city. I just love every minute of being there and it's always high on my travel list.

Each time I go I experience new and exciting things, but there's one thing I make sure I do EVERY time I'm in town (and sometimes more than once):

Start my morning at Borough Market.

Stove Top Turkey Chili

Turkey day has come and gone in Canada!

Our American friends still have a few more weeks to wait, but all across the Great White North, Canadians are unbuttoning our pants and trying not to feel TOO guilty about indulging on that second piece of pie.

One of the upsides of Thanksgiving, or any big holiday meal, are the leftovers! Unfortunately, a girl can only eat so much roast turkey before she's had enough... so what to do?

A popular option is soup, but with the days getting colder and colder I recommend something a little heartier. Why not make Turkey Chili?

London Calling - What's in my Suitcase

Kris and I are in England this week, and today is our first full day in London.

Obviously I'm writing to you from the past! Since my only blog activities this week for CW&T are to take pictures and make notes.

Anyway, we're in London and loving life (I hope!)

What's In My Carry On

Kris and I are vacationing in England this week.

With family and friends to visit, and lots of things to see, we've been really looking forward to this trip.

Flying overseas always requires a bunch of planning. Hotels, trains, activities, timelines, but also knowing what to bring with you! Not just clothes (though I'll get to that...) but what STUFF you need to get you through your long flight so you can hit the ground running when you land.

That's right, today we're talking about how to tackle the Red Eye - What to pack in your carry on for a great flight, smooth landing, and a great first day!

Overhauling My Blog!

Hi everyone!

No formal post today. Normally I would put out a post on Tuesdays and Thursdays but for the past few days I've been hunkered down in my cave drinking coffee, avoiding sunshine and planning upgrades to the blog.

Snacktember - Burrata Stuffed Tomatoes

Snacking is a really funny thing.

Sometimes, when you're craving a small snack, something chewy and chocolaty is all you need. Other times what you really want is something piping and doughy.

And then there are the times when you just crave something FRESH.

Having got the first two cravings sorted in recipes earlier this month, for this #Snacktember post I want to talk about my go to snack when I want something more refreshing and satisfying than chocolate, doughy treats.

Burrata Stuffed Tomatoes.

10 Products To Use Daily (Laura's Favourite Things!)

It's amazing all the STUFF we use on any given day.

Nail files, pasta spoons, band-aids, sun hats, candles... ok that's a weird list but you get the idea!

Ultimately though, you gravitate towards certain items, things you just couldn't do without on a day to day basis.

Today I want to talk to you about the top 10 items in my life that I use every. single. day. The things that make my life better, easier or just plain happier. Kind of like "Oprah's Favourite Things" except I can't afford to give anyone a car...

A Summer of Instagram!

Can you believe it's already September?!

I woke up this morning feeling like summer had just flashed by before my eyes. It seems only yesterday we were opening up our family cottage, enjoying long hot days and making bucket lists of activities.

Well the days are shorter and cooler now, the bucket list is (mostly) ticked off and I'm already starting to see signs of fall everywhere.

I know we have a few more weeks of summer, but for many of us I think the upcoming labour day weekend is really summer's last hurrah.

So today I've prepared some sensational Instagram photos that I've liked over the summer. Pictures that through colour and feel, completely represent everything that is the season of heat and fun. Good times with friends and family, getting outdoors, hitting the beach or pool, indulging in bright and delicious foods, and of course FASHION.

I hope you enjoy the selection. Clicking on each will launch the original pic in the Instagram browser window.

Goodbye summer 2016! You rocked.

My Experience Going Gluten Free (So Far...)

This is a hard post for me to write because, in general, I am very very against fad diets.

If you want to Whole30, eat paleo, avoid peppers or load up on meat and protein, that's your call. Everyone has the right to do what they think is best for their health.

Personally, I've always believed in eating everything in moderation. I'm not a vegetarian, but I try to eat vegan a few days a week to load up on veggies. I don't follow the Whole30 cook book, but I practice some of what it preaches in my day to day life.

Eat well, cook your own food, avoid too much fat and sugar and enjoy your meal. These are the food standards I try to live by.

So it is with a LARGE helping of crow in my mouth that I admit to having gone gluten free for the last 4 weeks.

From yacht club dinners to P Diddy's annual bash, white parties are a visual splendor to attend.

After attending a few of these events, here's my tip on how to rock your white party in style, and have the most fun while doing it!

Factory Resetting Your Life

Do you know those weeks when you're just feeling overwhelmed?

You don't seem to be eating right, you're stressed (and getting a pimple!), you feel bloated and gross, you just aren't sleeping and nothing seems to cheer you up?

Don't you wish that you had a factory reset setting so that you could just clear your slate and get back to normal?

Well, lately I've been feeling a little bit of that.

Friday Wine Down!

Happy Friday!!!

It's been very quiet on the blog for the past two weeks! I've been taking a little bloggy break to focus on some other stuff in my life.

Also it's just been so gosh darn hot outside that all I want to do is wallow inside an ice bath.

Before I get to that though, let's Wine Down this week!

Recipes Worth Trying - Sweet and Savoury Cheese Dishes!

I love cheese!

Unfortunately, growing up my Dad was a cheese hater so we never really ate a lot of it. Now in my adult years, I have tied myself to a wonderful man who also hates cheese (seriously... wtf) so once again I find myself not cooking with it very often.

Great for the waistline, but not always good for the soul.

Luckily, many of the wonderful women in my life LOVE cheese, so when given the opportunity to buy and cook up something delicious and cheesy, I jump at it!

Recipes Worth Trying - Lavender Summer Treats!

I love picking a new recipe to try.

Cookbooks, newspaper clippings, pinterest finds; a great new recipe means a fun day in the kitchen for me!

This past weekend I dove into one of my FAVOURITE sources for great recipes, the LCBO Food & Drink magazine, where the theme of so many great recipes was lavender.

I picked two that looked incredible and got to cooking. The Lavender Raspberry Mojito, and the Lavender Lemon Curd Tarts.

Friday Wine Down

Happy Friday!

It's a hot one in the Toronto area this week. Hydration and keeping the shades drawn are the name of the game right now.

I can't say I mind too much though, it's lovely to have the heat! I know I'll miss it when it's gone.

This weekend I'm hoping to spend lots of time outside by the lake working on my tan and snapping pictures (maybe catching a few Pokemon...) so let's Wine Down this week!

Chic and Wild!

It's been a while since I've done an outfit post, but I'm just so happy with some of my new purchases that you can expect a few in the coming weeks!

I love business casual attire in the summer. It's brighter and more versatile than it's winter-time counterparts, with light fabrics that keep you cool while looking très chic.

Saving Your Money Like A Pro!

Saving money is hard.

Whether you need a new laptop, to pay down your loans, or you're saving for a down payment, the task of putting away money each and every week is daunting.

And let's face it, so many of us are just BAD at it.

Today, I'm going to talk about a tool I've been using since I was 18 to help me save. It's evolved over the years as my life has gained more expenses, but at it's core it's pretty much the same.

I'm going to talk about "The Spreadsheet".

Ikea Hack - DIY Bar Cart

When I moved into my apartment, one of the pieces of furniture I really wanted was a bar cart for my glasses, wines and spirits.

Bar carts can run up a pretty hefty price tag so I put that particular "want to have" on the back burner so I could buy the things I really needed, but as the number of bar items in my apartment grew I knew it was time to find a proper home for them.

After a bit of researching and time spent on Pinterest, I decided that I could easily DIY a great bar cart for myself that I know I will be happy with for a long time!

Friday Wine Down

Happy Friday!

Oh what a week it has been. Work has been insane these past few weeks so I haven't had much free time to blog.

I'm working on posts here and there, but not with the consistency I would like.

BUT! I'm home this weekend and have some free time, and I am hoping to get allll caught up on blogging, friends and other stuff. Please be patient with me!

In the mean time, let's Wine Down this week and get all caught up.

Letting Go Of Your Hatred

Today, I want to do something that I don't often do on this blog, and write about something off the cuff that I can't get off my mind.

This wasn't the post I wanted to write today, but it's itching to get out so it's the post you're going to get.

Today I want to talk about hatred.

Friday Wine Down

Happy Friday!

It's been two weeks since my last Wine Down (this is becoming a habit), I've been pretty busy with Work and Birthdays.

This weekend I'm heading up north for some relaxation and hopefully a lot of blog post writing (yay!), I'm also hoping to take some time to read the stack of books that are piling up on my night stand.

Before all that though, I'm gonna Wine Down this week for you guys!

Wednesday Pinspiration: Father's Day Gifts

Father's Day is around the bend!

Coming up with an idea for Dad can be tough. A man can only use so many gadgets and tools after all.

When it comes to gifts for my Dad, I always like to err on the side of simple and personal. He usually goes out to buy things he really wants for himself, so Father's Day is really just about showing him I'm thinking about him.

When looking for some inspiration online, I came across some of the following items that do just that: keep it simple and personal.

Here's some Pinspiration for Father's Day Gifts! Click on the images to be taken directly to the pin.

...Oh and Dad, if you're reading, none of these are your gifts, but nice try :P

British Virgin Islands - Natural Wonders & Activities

One of the coolest things about my trip through the British Virgin Islands were all the excursions and activities we got to experience.

When you control the boat and your own schedule, you can really make the most of your trip and see a lot of really cool things!

I keep a pretty detailed journal when I travel; reading it over after my trip I counted 16 remarkable things we did, not including restaurants or day to day activities. That's a lot of stuff for 7 days at sea!

Some of the coolest things we did though were the natural wonders of the BVIs. Hidden coves, enormous caves, pirate islands and fabulous snorkeling spots.

Below is a list of my favourite things we saw that I urge you to visit if you find yourself in the BVIs
